SIGN VARIANCE APPLICATION
Demonstration
Please demonstrate that the following conditions are applicable to the requested sign variance:
That a literal enforcement of the sign regulation will create an unnecessary hardship or practical
difficulty on the applicant.
The sign size that the city oridnace is requesting is unreadable, and completely mis-proportioned to
the size of the building. The previous sign that had been granted variance is more proportioned to
the size of the building.
2. That the situation causing the unnecessary hardship or practical difficulty is unique to the affected
property and is not self imposed.
A smaller sign that is not readable will incur an immediate loss of sales for this location.
That the variance will not injure and will be wholly compatible with the use and permitted
development of adjacent properties.
There are no adjacent properties attached that face that side. The sign that we are requesting is in the
same size range of the previous signage that had been granted a variance.
4. That the variance will be in harmony with the spirit and purpose of the sign ordinance.
Our intent is to continue with the spirit of the sign ordinances. We just need the sign to be legible and
large enough for pass through traffic, as we are a retailer. The sign needs to be in proportion to the
building, and a small sign will make the building look bad.
