CONSTRUCTION TYPE -Remodel -Type II-B Building Elements not required to be rated. -Group E Educational Occupancy ZONING CURRENT LAND IS ZONED: Generalized Site Plan SP2 2021 International Building Code CHAPTER 3 CHAPTER 7 FIRE AND SMOKE PROTECTION FIRE WALLS (Section 706) HORIZONTAL PROJECTING ELEMENTS (Section 706.5.2) Fire walls shall extend to the outer edge of horizontal projecting elements such as balconies, roof overhangs, canopies, marquees and similar projections that are within 4 feet (1220 mm) of the fire wall. Exceptions: 1. Horizontal projecting elements without concealed spaces, provided that the exterior wall behind and below the projecting element has not less than 1-hour fire -resistance -rated construction for a distance not less than the depth of the projecting element on both sides of the fire wall. Openings within such exterior walls shall be protected by opening protectives having a fire protection rating of not less than 3/4 hour. 2. Noncombustible horizontal projecting elements with concealed spaces, provided a minimum 1-hour fire -resistance -rated wall extends through the concealed space. The projecting element shall be separated from the building by not less than 1-hour fire -resistance -rated construction for a distance on each side of the fire wall equal to the depth of the projecting element. The wall is not required to extend under the projecting element where the building exterior wall is not less than 1-hour fire -resistance rated for a distance on each side of the fire wall equal to the depth of the projecting element. Openings within such exterior walls shall be protected by opening protectives having a fire protection rating of not less than 3/4 hour. 3. For combustible horizontal projecting elements with concealed spaces, the fire wall need only extend through the concealed space to the outer edges of the projecting elements. The exterior wall behind and below the projecting element shall be of not less than 1-hour fire -resistance -rated construction for a distance not less than the depth of the projecting elements on both sides of the fire wall. Openings within such exterior walls shall be protected by opening protectives having a fire protection rating of not less than 3/4 hour. HORIZONTAL CONTINUITY (Section 706.5) Fire walls shall be continuous from exterior wall to exterior wall and shall extend not less than 18 inches (457 mm) beyond the exterior surface of exterior walls. Exceptions: 1. Fire walls shall be permitted to terminate at the interior surface of combustible exterior sheathing or siding provided that the exterior wall has a fire -resistance rating of not less than 1 hour for a horizontal distance of not less than 4 feet (1220 mm) on both sides of the fire wall. Openings within such exterior walls shall be protected by opening protectives having a fire protection rating of not less than 3/4 hour. 2. Fire walls shall be permitted to terminate at the interior surface of noncombustible exterior sheathing, exterior siding or any other noncombustible exterior finishes provided that the sheathing, siding or other exterior noncombustible finish extends a horizontal distance of not less than 4 feet (1220 mm) on both sides of fire wall. 3. Fire walls shall be permitted to terminate at the interior surface of noncombustible exterior sheathing where the building on each side of the fire wall is protected by an automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 or 903.3.1.2. USE AND OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION CHAPTER CLASSIFICATION (Section 302) GENERAL (Section 302.1) INTERIOR FINISHES Occupancy classification is the formal designation of the primary purpose of the building, structure or portion thereof. Structures shall be classified into one or more of the occupancy groups specified in this section based on the nature of the hazards and risks to building occupants generally associated with the intended purpose of the building or structure. An area, room or space that is intended to be occupied at different times for different proposed with all applicable reqirements associated with such potential mulitpurpose. Structures containing multiple occupancy groups shall comply with Section 508. Where a structure is proposed for a purpose that is not specified in this section, such structure shall be classified in the occupancy it most nearly resemebles based on the fire safety and relative hazard. Occupied roofs shall be classified in the group most nearly resembles, according to the fire safety and relative hazard, and shall comply with Section 503.1.4. 3. Educational (see Section 305): Group E. EDUCATIONAL GROUP E (Section 305) GROUP E - EDUCATIONAL OCCUPANCY (Section 305.1) Educational Group E Occupancy includes, among others, the use of a building or structure, or a portion thereof, by six or more persons at any one time for educational purposes through the 12th grade. CHAPTER 6 TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION CONSTRUCTION CLASSIFICATION (Section 602) GENERAL (Section 602.1) Buildings and structures erected or to be erected, altered or extended in height or area shall be classified in one of the five construction types defined in Sections 602.2 through 602.5. The building elements shall have a fire -resistance rating not less than that specified in Table 601 and exterior walls shall have a fire - resistance rating not less than that specified in Table 705.5. Where required to have a fire -resistance rating by Table 601, building elements shall comply with the applicable provisions of Section 703.2. The protection of openings, ducts and air transfer openings in building elements shall not be required unless required by other provisions of this code. SECTION 603 Combustble Material In Types I and II Construction 603.1 Allowable materials Combustible materials shall be permitted in buildings of Type I or II construction in the following applications and in accordance with Sections 603.1.1 through 603.1.3: 7. Topsoil and turfgrass losses due to erosion or any other construction activities will be replaced by the Contractor until ESTABLISHMENT and ACCEPTANCE is achieved. SOIL PREPARATION: All slopes and areas disturbed by construction, except those occupied by buildings, structures, or paving shall be graded smooth and four (4") inches of topsoil applied. Sod shall be alive, healthy, vigorous, free of insects, disease, stones, and undesirable foreign materials and grasses. The grass shall have been mowed prior to sod cutting so that the height of grass shall not exceed two (2") inches. Sod shall have been produced on growing beds of clay -loam topsoil. Sod shall not be harvested or planted when its moisture condition is so excessively wet or dry that its survival will be affected. All sod is to be harvested, delivered, and planted within a thirty-six (36) hour period of time. Sod shall be protected from exposure to wind, sun, and freezing. Should installation occur between November and March, sod shall include an over -seed of Annual Rye for a grown -in appearance.
