SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL PRESENT: Chair Tamara McMillan, Vice Chair Leslie Walker, Secretary Julie Doyle, and Southlake Arts Council members Tim Sabo, Terri Messing, Alison Viktorin, Susan Steinbrecher, and Milan Georgia (Alt 1) SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL ABSENT: NA STAFF PRESENT: Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez and Corporate Business Manager Major Youngblood CITY COUNCIL MEMBER PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Talley REGULAR SESSION 1. CALL TO ORDER Southlake Arts Council Chair Tamara McMillan called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. 2. PUBLIC FORUM Chair McMillan opened the Public Forum at 6.00 P.M. There being no one to speak, the Public Forum was closed at 6:00 P.M. 3. CONSENT AGENDA 3A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE APRIL 23, 2024, SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING Chair Tamara McMillan presented item 3A, approval of the minutes from the April 23, 2024, Southlake Arts Council meeting. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes from the April 23, 2024, Southlake Arts Council meeting as presented. REPORTS 4A. 2023 CITIZEN SURVEY RESULTS PRESENTATION— MAJOR YOUNGBLOOD CORPORATE BUSINESS MANAGER Corporate Business Manager Major Youngblood presented the results of the 2023 Citizen Survey and was available to answer questions. Direction to Staff: NA 5. CONSIDER 5A. RECOMMENDATION OF APPROVAL OF THE SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL BYLAWS Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez presented the proposed Southlake Arts Council Bylaws to comply with Ordinance No. 1228B and was available to answer questions. APPROVED A motion was made to recommend approval of the Southlake Arts Council Bylaws Motion: Walker Second: Steinbrecher Ayes: Sabo, Walker, Doyle, Messing, Viktorin, Steinbrecher, McMillan Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 7-0 Motion passed. 5B. APPROVE THE PUBLIC ART DISPLAY PERMIT FOR THE SOUTHLAKE SISTER CITIES YOUTH ART CONTEST Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez presented the Public Art Display Permit for the Southlake Sister Cities Youth Art Contest exhibit and was available to answer questions. DPS WEST ART Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez presented an update on the DPS West Art project and was available to answer questions. Direction to Staff: NA. 6B. VETERANS MEMORIAL UPDATE Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez presented an update on the Veterans Memorial project and was available to answer questions. Direction to Staff: Can we update the Veterans Memorial Task Force to include representation from the Marines? 6C. FALL EXHIBIT DISCUSSION Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez presented the local DFW artists featured in Art in the Square and the Arts Council discussed their top 3 choices for the Fall Exhibit. Direction to Staff: Contact artists to see their availability. 6D. PUBLIC ART PROGRAM UPDATE Assistant to the Director Milenka Lopez asked for feedback on the Southlake Presents Art Reception. It was suggested to encourage the featured artists to invite more family and friends and make the reception a Facebook event to increase community participation.
