Item 4D - MemoM E M O R A N D U M April 30, 2024 To: Alison Ortowski, City Manager From: Amy Shelley, City Secretary Subject: Resolution No. 24-017, appointing representatives to the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, and the Corridor Planning Committee. Action Requested: Appoint representatives to the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, and the Corridor Planning Committee as a result of the May 4, 2024 uncontested General Election. Background Information: Several of the Southlake Boards and Commissions include City Council appointees/representation. All board/commission member terms are two years, unless the member is appointed to fulfill a vacancy. During their tenure, Council members are appointed and served on various boards/committees. Invariably board/commission terms do not correspond with the elected official’s term in office. As a result, outgoing Council members create vacancies within boards/commissions. Relative to the Corridor Planning Committee, the City Council has made ex-officio appointments in the past, such as former City Council members. RESOLUTION NO. 24-017 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING REPRESENTATIVES TO FULFILL VACANCIES ON VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, AND PROVDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Whereas, the City Council appoints members of the public to various boards, commissions and committees to serve a two-year term, unless indicated otherwise; and, Whereas, the membership and qualifications for each board, commission and committee are identified by City Charter, ordinance, or resolution; and, Whereas, the Audit Committee, Southlake Parks Development Corporation, and the Corridor Planning Committee have vacancies as the result of the May 4, 2024 uncontested General Election; and, Whereas, Council desires to appoint representatives to fulfill such vacancies. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in its entirety. Section 2. The following representatives are appointed to serve as board, commission or committee members for the stated terms and until their successors have been duly appointed and qualified by Council.
