,Agenda Item No. 1. Call to Qrder
The meeting was called to order by Chair Jeane Alexander at 1:15 p.m.
Agenda Item No. 2, Approval of the Ngvember 911999 minutes
Darla Lattimore made a motion to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Jeane
Alexander and was approved. Among those present, only two were at the January meeting, and
thus the vote was unanimous only among those who felt eligible to vote. David Baltimore and
Tom Furey abstained.
Agenda Item No. 3, Administrative Commlents
Nona Whitehead reported that the City was installing "No Parking" signs on the north side of
Parkwood Drive in response to their letter of concern, which was sent to member of Planning
and Zoning and City Council. Nona passed around an exhibit of the proposed exit road to be
built along the north property line and explained that the Director of Public Works was ill, but
could be invited to attend the March meeting to answer questions about the proposed road.
Agenda Item No. 4, Report: Southlak Senior Activities
Tom Furey reported on Southlake Senior activities and other events at the Senior Activity
Center. Tom expressed appreciation for CARS and for the "No Parking" signs.
Agenda Item No. 5. Report; Metroop„ rt Meals gn W
Sonja passed out the statistics for January and noted that the attendance is up over a year ago.
Agenda Item No. 6, Open Forum
Linda Forbes brought up the danger of speed bumps to the frail and handicapped. David
Baltimore mentioned that he noticed that work was being done on the humps. A citywide SPIN
meeting was suggested on the issue.
Jeane Alexander reported that she had spoken with Bill Cosgrove and he wishes to remain on the
Commission.
David Baltimore notified the Commission that he is volunteering with the AARP Tax-Aide
program and that members can help spread the word that this service is available at the Senior
Activity Center.
The Joint Use Natatorium issue was raised and discussed. Darla Lattimore moved to invite Steve
Polasek to address the Commission regarding senior citizen use of the facility. Tom Furey
seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
Linda Forbes asked that Ron Harper be invited to the March meeting as well to keep us updated
on the steps involved in implementing Alternate B.
Nona suggested that this meeting be moved to the front room and luncheon participants be
especially invited to stay and hear the presentation
There being no further business, David Baltimore moved to adjourn and the meeting was
adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
