Agenda Item No. 3 "211" Service Explanation - Pat Toles, First Call - United Way:
Pat joined the meeting and explained the "211" service, what it was and how it could be
accessed. Currently it is not up and running. It is in the testing phase. Hopefully by the New
Year it should be working. Tarrant County is one of 14 counties that will be open in January,
2003. "211" service will take over the First Call for Help program and will also include several
other counties as well. The "211" system has listed the social and human services organizations
that can and will provide help to individuals who need specific supports.
A brief discussion was held regarding the fact that a portion of Southlake is in Denton County.
The best way to handle that situation now is to go to the agency and show them where the
individual actually resides and then make a determination of which agency can help.
Pat gave out her telephone number, 817-258-8107 and Vicki's number, 817-285-8109 and invited
