Agenda Item No. 1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 1:20 PM
Agenda Item No. 2 Approval of the 10/14/03/03 Minutes
Cleta Pierce moved and David Baltimore seconded the motion. They were approved unanimously
Agenda Item No. 3, Report: CARS
Dick Johnston reviewed the activities of CARS They have not decided on a new Board as of yet
Questions were asked regarding the office hours of CARS. Dick stated that there are no regular
hours but that Beth carries a cell phone so that she can be reached throughout the working day (9-5)
David and Cleta mentioned that they had tried to access CARS through the cell phone number and
had not received a call back. Dick mentioned that the next Board meeting will by Monday,
November 17th at 10:00 AM at the DPS East facility. He also reported that CARS currently has
$16,397 on hand.
Agenda Item No. 4, Report: Southlake Seniors Activities
Dorothy reported that nothing unusual had happened. The Harvest Festival was well attended. The
Bridge group continues to grow each week.
Agenda Item No. 5. Report: Metroport Meals on Wheels
Reports were distributed. Mary commended Susan on the wonderful Veteran's program. The
Southlake Mayor was able to attend. The numbers are going up slightly, but they are not much
different from the previous years. Mary asked everyone to make sure they refer folks to Metroport
who could benefit by the home delivered meals.
Agenda Item No. 6: Administrative Comments
Joanne reminded everyone of the "Hanging of the Greens" on Dec. and the Annual Holiday Open
House on Dec. 8` We need help with both of these events. Also mentioned was the Annual
Christmas Tree Lighting on November 22 at 5:30 PM. Everyone is invited.
Agenda Item No. 7, Discussion 501 c 3 funding for Southlake Seniors
David reported that he is not pursuing this at the present time. A question was raised as to whether
the Commission has the motivation to proceed at this time. Bill Kyle moved to table until the
outcome of the CARS Scope of Services and the workings of the TxDOT program are known.
Connie Montague seconded it. Motion passed.
Agenda Item No. 8, Open Forum
The Tax Freeze amendment will be on the Council Agenda on December 2 The Mayor has
indicated his willingness to support this endeavor. Seniors will be encouraged to attend the meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:20 PM.
