1996-08-13 R CITY OF SOUTHLAKE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION August 13, 1996 MINUTES Commission Members Present: Jim Goggin, Aloha Payne, Dick Johnston, Frances Weiser, and Crawford Hall. Member Absent: James Wood Alternate Members Present: John Kelly and Wanda Buschman Ex Officio Members Present: Rose Hampton and Virginia Muzyka City Staff Present: Administrative Assistant Coy Gray. The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by Chairman Dick Johnston. Agenda Item No. 2. Approval of Minutes for 7/9/96 Commission Meeting. Motion was made to approve the minutes. Motion: Weiser Second: Payne Ayes: Goggin, Payne, Johnston, Weiser, Hall Nayes: none Approved: 5-0 Agenda Item No. 3, Administrative Comments None. Agenda Item No 4 Condiser• Approval of Senior Advisory Commission Bylaws Discussed and made changes to bylaws. Staff will make the necessary changes and the bylaws will be considered at the next meeting on September 10, 1996. Agenda Item No. 5. Consider: Resignation of James Wood Motion was made to accept the resignation of James Wood and appoint Alternate Member Wanda Buschman to fill the vacancy. Motion: Payne Second: Weiser Ayes: Goggin, Payne, Johnston, Weiser, Hall Nayes: none Approved: 5-0 Agenda Item No. 6, Discussion: Recommend Replacement of James Wood The commission decided to ask selected seniors if they would be interested in becoming an alternate member of the commission, before any recommendations are made. Agenda Item No. 7. Discussion: Southlake Seniors Organization The commission discussed organizing the Southlake Seniors Organization. Dick Johnston believes the commission should help in getting the organization started. The commission will extend an invitation to all seniors. Aloha Payne will compose a letter and questionnaire to send to all seniors. Agenda Item No. 8, Discussion: Senior Citizen Database The commission discussed the database and its uses. It will be used to get all Southlake seniors involved in City issues, questionnaires, and to inform seniors of issues and events concerning seniors. Agenda Item No. 3, Administrative Comments - Your packet contains the attendance record. Please review the record for accuracy. Agenda Item No. 4. Consider Approval of Bylaws - I have drafted bylaws for the Commission. Please review the bylaws. If any changes are to be made let me know at the meeting. Agenda Item No. 5. Consider resignation of James Wood - Mr. Wood has asked to be removed from the board because of health problems. {Y' ~t r,; Agenda Item No. 6. Discussion to Recommend replacement of Mr. Wood to City Council - The Commission should recommend a replacement for Mr. Wood.
