Agenda Item No 4 Report: Southlake Senior Activities (Dorothy Cosgrove)
Ms. Cosgrove reported there was not a meeting held during December to report on this
month. She did extend appreciation to Kim Edmonds, Lynn Reed, the volunteers, Cleta
Pierce, Jean Boland and others that contributed to a wonderful month of activities.
Agenda Item No 5 Report: Metroport Meals on Wheels (Marv King/Lynn Reed)
Mary King handed out November and December MMOW statistical reports.
MMOW is still working to determine the most appropriate amount of food to have at the
luncheons in order to have plenty for everyone attending, without an overabundance that
is wasted since storage is limited. Any overage that occurs at the luncheon is taken to
other centers and the cost is prorated to Southlake for what goes to the other centers. No
Southlake food or money is going to support any program that isn't a Southlake program.
The Senior Advisory Commission agreed this is the best solution to the situation.
Agenda Item No. 6. Administrative Comments:
A. Commendation from "Christmas is for Children" - Staff distributed a
letter received from Dana Fidler, Director of Fundraising for "Christmas is
for Children" thanking the city for its participation this year. The program

received food baskets in Tarrant County. The seniors and members of the
Senior Advisory Commission were thanked for their support of the
program.
B. Building; Maintenance Update - Members were advised of the progress on
the projects listed on the attached "Status of Senior Center Improvement
Items" document. Details of the proposed patio fence project was

Dear Director Jackson:
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your department, for your participation
in the Christmas Is For Children food/toy drive. We were able to serve 2,000 children
with Christmas this year and nearly 1,000 needy families received food baskets.
Because this was our first year to partner with the City of Southlake, I was unsure as to
what it might mean for us in terms of donations I can't tell you how amazed I was on a
daily basis at the generosity of Southlake citizens and many who likely were not local, but
generously donated anyway It was an amazing event for us and we simply could not have
done it without the help of the city.
I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community, and to have such support within
our city staff. Thank you so much for your willingness to be a part of this event - it is very
much appreciated.
Sincerely,
ana Fidler
