Agenda Item No. 4 Report: Southlake Seniors Activities
Dorothy reported that the picnic was a big success. There were 70 folks attending and enjoying
an old fashioned "cookout" and games. From the Steering Committee it was reported that a
Greeter Program will be started soon on Tuesdays. Volunteers are being recruited and they will
receive a free lunch on the days they are the greeter. Josh also mentioned that we are now ready
to print the center directory. Steve Moore offered to have the directory printed at Community
Services as their machine collates and staples. It is estimated that there will be about 6 pages,
front and back, to be printed.
It was also mentioned that on Tuesday, July 20`" the seniors will be honoring Scott O'Donnell for
the wonderful landscape makeover and thanking Greg Jones for his assistance in accomplishing
this goal. The luncheon will begin at 12 noon and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Agenda Item No. 5, Report: Metroport Meals on Wheels
Mary distributed the monthly and quarterly statistics. A discussion was held regarding the
declining number of seniors on Tuesdays. Mary reported that Southlake is the only center that
has been experiencing this trend. She said that MMOW will be doing a survey very soon to try to
gage if there is a problem and seniors are wanting a different format or what some of the issues
may be that are contributing to the declining numbers.
Agenda Item No. 6: Administrative Comments
In the interest of time, Joanne did not comment on upcoming programs and trips.
Agenda Item No. 7: Open Forum
Discussion was continued from the earlier work session regarding the listing of repairs and
maintenance for the center. Steve Moore asked for a copy of f the complete listing as soon as
possible so that he can present it to Steve Polasek and Malcolm Jackson so that we can all work
together to solve the repairs and maintenance issues.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:59 PM.
