Action
Requested: Approve Resolution 24-010, supporting the FY 2025 appropriations
requests to the Office of United States Representative Beth Van
Duyne.
Background
Information: Each year, Congress is tasked with funding the government through
the appropriations process, and each office has the ability to submit
requests directing funds to their district and state. The Office of
United States Representative Beth Van Duyne has requested
projects for consideration under the FY 2025 federal appropriations.
Project submissions are due on March 8, 2024. After the submittal
deadline, Rep. Van Duyne’s office will hold a rou ndtable on March
18, 2024, with officials from each City to rank the project
submissions.
Staff has identified three projects for submission that improve service
delivery and critical infrastructure:
• Alta Vista Water Line Replacement (in partnership with City of
Keller)
• Brumlow Avenue Widening
• T.W. King Pump Station Buildout Phase 2 and 3
The City of Keller City Council will consider a resolution supporting
the submission of the water line replacement at their March 5, 2024,
City Council meeting.
Financial
Considerations: This resolution identifies the match funding that the City of Southlake
will provide for the above projects. Funding for these projects is
programmed in the Capital Improvements Program. The chart below
shows the breakout for the appropriations requests:

RESOLUTION NO. 24-010
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE FY 2025
APPROPRIATIONS REQUESTS TO THE OFFICE OF UNITED STATES HOUSE
REPRESENTATIVE BETH VAN DUYNE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, has deemed providing exceptional
and continual service delivery is a core function of a local government; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake has identified four key projects to support the health and safety
of Southlake residents, businesses, and visitors, and those in the region traveling
through the City; and
WHEREAS, the proposed FY 2025 appropriation requests totaling $43,395,000 address key core
functions of a local government including reliable water service and effective
transportation infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake will provide match funding of $23,310,000 for the pump station
buildout and $16,875,000 for the expansion of Brumlow Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake and City of Keller will provide match funding of $7,500,000
each for a total of $15,000,000 in match funds for the water line replacement project;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake supports the FY 2025 appropriation
requests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Southlake supports the FY 2025 appropriations submissions to the office
of United States House Representative Beth Van Duyne related to the Alta Vista
water line replacement in partnership with the City of Keller, the T.W. King pump
station buildout, and the expansion of Brumlow Avenue.
Section 2. The above findings are hereby found to be true and correct and are incorporated
herein in their entirety.
Section 3. This resolution is hereby effective upon passage and approval by the City Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 5TH DAY OF MARCH 2024.
