PROJECT: Sign Variance for Valora Medical Group
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY: Smith Electric & Signs, on behalf of Valora Medical Group, is requesting approval of
variances to Sign Ordinance No. 704, as amended, for an attached building sign
located at 1050 E. SH 114 Suite 100, Southlake, Texas 76092.
DETAILS: The property is situated at the northwest corner of the N. Carroll Avenue and E.
SH 114 intersection. North Country Family Practice has changed to Valora Medical
Group, and the applicant is requesting to update their sign accordingly. The
applicant is seeking variances for the following: an upper -story sign, sign area,
letter height, logo height, nonconforming sign color and the building sign not
located on lease/tenant space.
At the October 6th, 2023 Sign Board meeting, the Board recommended that the
applicant provide two other options to City Council, one which is in compliance
with the ordinance and one which has more neutral colors in between the
proposed renderings and the ordinance. The applicant has provided additional
design options, which are included in the packet and presentation.

not align with the tenant's lease space. (SV21-0018)
SIGN BOARD: October 61h, 2023: Approved (7-0), subject to the Staff Report dated
September 29', 2023, noting approval only of the upper story sign
variance request, also noting approval only of the building sign
being located on a neighboring upper story lease tenant space but
denying all other variances requested with respect to letter height,
logo height, sign area and colors. Recommends applicant provide
two other options to City Council, one which is in compliance with
the ordinance and one which has more neutral colors in between
the proposed renderings and the ordinance.
STAFF COMMENTS: City Council approval of the request does not eliminate the
requirement for a sign application submittal prior to sign installation.
