EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY: Southlake Storage is requesting approval of a variance to Sign Ordinance No. 704,
as amended, for an attached building sign for Southlake Storage located at 2060 E.
Continental Blvd.
DETAILS: Southlake Storage is requesting variances for an upper story sign and a vertically
oriented sign for the south elevation facing E. Continental Blvd. The sign was
originally approved by staff per a sign application in 2018, however, the company
would like to relocate the exact same sign to the 3rd story (approximately 23 feet
above-grade).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
APPLICANT: Priority Signs
OWNER: Southlake Storage
PROPERTY SITUATION: 2060 E Continental Blvd.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lot 2, Block 1 of the Greenlee Business Park Addition
CURRENT ZONING: “LI” Light Industrial District
HISTORY: The Certificate of Occupancy was obtained on July 2, 2020.
Staff approved the sign application for the south elevation in August 2018,
and inspected the sign in May 2019.
Staff received the sign variance application on May 1, 2023, to relocate the
sign to the 3rd story.

STAFF COMMENTS: City Council approval of the request does not eliminate the requirement for
