ELECTION ORDER
I, John R. Stevenson,,Mayor of the Town of Southlake, Texas,
by virtue -6f the power vested in me by law do hereby order an
election to be held in the Town of Southlake, Texas, on May 14,
1963, being for the purpose -of electing one Councilman to fill
the unexpired term of the vacancy caused by,the resignation of
John R. Tater and
THAT said election shall be held in the City Hall within
the said Town and the following named persons are hereby appointed
managers thereof:
- Judge
- Assistant Judge
- -- Clerk
The marshal is hereby directed and instructed to post a
properly executed copy of this order and notice of election -at
the City Hall, the place where this election will be held and
at two other public places within the Town.
SAID notice shall be posted ten days before the date of
said election.

,.TRAT,.the Town Council of the Town of Southlake, Texas, at
a regular meeting held this date does _hereby order an election
for the purpose of filling the vacancy occasioped'by the resigna-
tion of John R.)Tate as Councilman'for,,his unexpired term ending
on or about April 1, 1964•, or unti%l_.hi.s successor is duly elected
and qualified. Such election, to be held on May 14, 1963. The
candidate receiving the highest number of votes for the office of
Councilman at such election shall -be declared elected'to such of-
fice and for,the unexpired"term aforeOentioned."

NO person shall be eligible for the office -aforementioned
unless he is a qualified elector of the Town and had resided in
the State of Texas for the period of one-year and in the Town for
six months next preceding the date on which election is held.

ANY eligible and qualified person may have his name printed
upon the official ballot as an independent candidate for the office
herein provided for by filing his sworn application with the Town
Secretary not later, than Midnight,,. April 23,, .1963. , The application
shall state the specific office,being sought by the applicant and
that the applicant is eligible and qualified under the Laws of,the
State of'Texas, to become a candidate for and hold such.office, if
elected.
THE names of all those who have filed'their sworn applications
to have their,names printed on the official ballot,as a.,candidate
sball be posted by the Town Secretary in a consp*"ous,place in her
office for inspection to the.,Public for at least ten days before she
oreers the ballots to be printed. The Town Secretary shall preserve
in her office"for a period.of two years,all applications, notices of
objections and other related papers.

ANY person eligible to ihe,office herein provided,for who has
filed,his sworn application in accordance with the provisions of
this resolution, shall have his name printed on the official ballot.

ALL qualified voters within the meaninglof the Constitution
and Laws•of the State of Texas, who have resided in the State of
Texas for a period of one•year, and in the Town of Southlake for a
period of six months prior to the date of the elettion.h rein pro-
vided"for shall be entitled to vote at such election.

VOTING by absentee ballot in said election shall commence

on Ma,y 1, 1963, at the office of -the Town Secretary, Southlake, Texas.
Voting by absentee ballot shall close at five o'clock P.M. May 11, 196

THE election officers above named shall make and deliver the
returno-of said olection in triplicate, one being retained by the
Presiding.Judge, one delivered -to the Mayor of the.Town, and one
delivered to the Town Secretary. ,The ballot box containing the sig-
nature stubs from ballots used in said election shall be'delivered
to the District Clerk of Tarrant County, Texas, and other ballot boxes
and election records and supplies shall be preserved by the Town
Secretary in the proper office as by law provided.

which shall be signed by the'Mayor under the attest of the Town
Secretary,' and shall state the purpose of the election,' ihe*officer
to be elected, and the Marshal shall post a properly executed copy
of the election proclamation at the polling place herein provided
and two copies at two other public places within the Town. Such
