1999-005 City of Southlake, Texas . RESOLUTION NO. 99-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO AMEND CERTAIN STATUTES. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake through its staff has identified certain provisions of specific state statutes that would better serve the citizens of Southlake if the laws were amended; and, WHEREAS, the specific amendments to statutes would not create any adverse impact on any other communities; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. That Chapter 322 of the Texas Tax Code be amended to authorize the Comptroller of Public Accounts to release information concerning the amount of sales tax attributable to the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District. Section 2. That Chapter 621 of the Texas Transportation Code be amended to authorize municipal police officers in a municipality of more than fifteen thousand population to enforce all weight limitations for a vehicle on a state-maintained public highway. Section 3. That Chapter 251 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code be amended to authorize a city geographically located in more than one county to order a local option to determine whether or not the sale of alcoholic beverages of one or more of the various types and alcoholic contents shall be prohibited or legalized in the City. Section 4. That Chapter 212 Subchapter C of the Texas Local Government Code be amended to authorize a municipality with less than 50,000 inhabitants, without complying with the competitive sealed bidding procedure of Chapter 252 of the LGC, to make a contract with a developer of a subdivision or land in the municipality to construct public improvements, not including a building related to the development. Section 5. That the City Manager contact the members of the State Legislature and take all steps necessary to propose the above amendments to the state statute.
