WORK SESSION: 1. CALL TO ORDER Work Session was called to order by Mayor John Huffman at 5:30 p.m. 2. INVOCATION: CLAYTON REED Mr. Clayton Reed provided the invocation. Mayor John Huffman led the pledges of allegiance to the United States and Texas Flags. 3. PRESENTATION FROM THE LEADERSHIP SOUTHLAKE CLASS Leadership Southlake Class members Traci Schwomeyer and Crystal Dudkowski provided a brief presentation regarding the 2023 Chamber of Commerce Leadership Southlake class. SOUTHLAKE SISTER CITIES PRESENTATION OF THE ART COMPETITION WINNERS Sister Cities member Alicia Bedwell announced the art competition winners and provided certificates for their achievement. 5. HONORS & RECOGNITION: PROCLAMATION HONORING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SOUTHLAKE KIWANIS CLUB Mayor Huffman introduced the Southlake Kiwanis Club President Elizabeth Whatley, who spoke about the Kiwanis Club’s volunteer service and contributions to local children's charities. Mayor Huffman read a proclamation recognizing their efforts. 6. HONOR THE FIT CITY CHALLENGE HIGH PERFORMERS Deputy Director of Community Services David Miller and Fitness & Performance Supervisor Jake Coldren recapped the Fit City Challenge and honored its High Performers. 7. SOUTHLAKE BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT - RC MASSAGE & ESTHETICS, 301 STATE STREET, SUITE 240, ROOM 244. Economic Development Specialist Stephanie Bernard introduced a video showcasing the Southlake Business Spotlight for RC Massage & Esthetics, located at 301 State Street, Suite 240, Room 244. 8. DISCUSS ALL ITEMS ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA. NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN, AND EACH ITEM WILL BE CONSIDERED DURING THE REGULAR SESSION. Mayor Huffman reviewed the items on the consent agenda. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Huffman announced the City Council would go into Executive Session pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, Section 551.071 consultation with city attorney and Section 551.087 deliberation regarding economic development negotiations. UPCOMING STARS & STRIPES EVENT Economic Development & Tourism Director Daniel Cortez briefly discussed the upcoming Stars & Stripes event scheduled for Monday, July 3, 2023.
