Southlake Summer Reading City Librarian Pfledderer gave an update regarding the summer reading program, which kicks off on Friday, May 26th. The theme "All Together Now" is a national theme and is available at no cost nationwide for public libraries. The title sponsor for year's program is Sweetgreen, the prize sponsor is Frost Bank, and the program sponsor is the Library Foundation of Southlake. The library will once again use ReadSquared for the reading incentive program and there are 36 special youth programs planned throughout the summer. City Librarian Pfledderer also gave an update on the kiosk located in the Family Park by Starbucks. The current plan is to develop a quarterly ad, anticipating a mid-May debut highlighting the digital library. B. CISD Partnership Update City Librarian Pfledderer and Council Member Hinkle gave an update on the collaboration between the library and CISD with regards to the Development Reading Assessment ("DRA") reading program. Youth Librarian Stacy Wells expects to have a list before summer reading begins which will correspond the Lexile number with the book title and the DRA level. Finally, City Librarian Pfledderer indicated the library will not be speaking to the elementary campuses as in previous years, but that a summer reading brochure will be included in the Wednesday folder for each child. 4. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT City Librarian Pfledderer gave a performance update for March 2023. Total circulation was 30,543, an increase of 9% from March 2022. Programming saw a 15% increase from March 2022, in part due an increase in Story Time attendance and Spring Break programming. Library traffic increased by 15%, while there was a 19% decrease in traffic and digital services. Print circulation, cloudLibrary, BookFLIX and youth programming had the strongest performances for the month. Overall, there has been a 17% increase in library cards issued. City Librarian Pfledderer also noted that Ancestry had zero interactions for the month of March, possibly due to the program only being accessed exclusively in the library.
