Item 4G - Applicant's Lettersm BUILT STRONG SINCE 1978 DALLAS • FORT WORTH • AUSTIN • HOUSTON • SAN ANTONIO To: Southlake City Council From: Greater Metroplex Interiors, Inc. (GMi) Date: April 25, 2023 Subject: Sign Variance SV-0007 Background Council Members: My name is Kirk Challgren, and I am the Chief Financial Officer of GMi, with our new corporate headquarters located at 350 S. Nolen Dr. in Southlake. I am a resident of Southlake and have two Dragons attending Walnut Grove Elementary School and one Dragon at Carroll Middle School. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. GMi is a commercial drywall subcontractor with operations across the state of Texas. We are one of the three largest of our trade in Texas, and the 12th largest in the USA. We began construction operations in 1978, have called Southlake our home city since 1994, and continue to experience robust growth year after year. We completed our new corporate headquarters in early 2022 and have only received compliments from our customers, vendors, and partners that visit our facility. Upon arriving at our building, our guests are met with a steel sign displaying our GMi logo fabricated by our own employees that highlights the workmanship we put into every job we perform. I understand now that we should have gained approval from the City of Southlake to erect such a sign, but please consider this an honest oversight as the architecture firm we hired to oversee the permitting process did not relay this information to us. This sign has always been our vision since we presented our plans to the City Council years ago. I respectfully ask the Council to approve the variance to allow our sign to remain in place. Respectfully, Kirk Challgren Chief Financial Officer Greater Metroplex Interiors, Inc. (GMi) GMITEXAS.COM I 350 S. Nolen Dr. 817-481*0029 SOLITHL.AKE, TEXAS 76092
