3. DISCUSSION
A. Budget Requests
City Librarian Pfledderer gave a brief overview of the 2024 budget requests for
the library, which includes the addition of a Marcive records processing system,
improved software for room reservations and new equipment for the Marketing
Coordinator. The personnel requests will seek to add another part-time staff
member and promote the Library Technician to Tech Services Coordinator.
Additional budget items seek to replace the library lounge chairs as well as plans
to modify one family restroom to a utility closet with a sink and hot water.
4. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
City Librarian Pfledderer gave a performance update for January 2023. Total
circulation was 43,065, an increase of 17% from January 2022. Programming
saw a 250% increase from January 2022, due to the 2-week closure for new
carpet last year. Library traffic increased by 87%, while there was a 50%
decrease in digital users. CloudLibrary, World Book, BookFLIX and programming
had the strongest performances for the month.
City Librarian Pfledderer indicated that Chairman Hinkle recently met with Youth
Librarian Stacy Wells regarding how best to incorporate Development Reading
Assessment ("DRA") levels into the library. The plan is to work directly with DRA
to review the most popular categories of books and where they fall on the DRA
scale.
City Librarian Pfledderer also announced there would be a quarterly ad for the
library on the city's kiosk in front of Town Square next to the Family Park and the
library will coordinate the ad through the Economic Development & Tourism
Department.
5. CARILLON PARC STEERING COMMITTEE UPDATE
City Librarian Pfledderer stated there are no updates or upcoming meetings
scheduled for the Steering Committee to date, as they are still working with the
developer.
6. LIBRARY FOUNDATION NEWS
Vice-chairman Burr stated they have ordered two new AWE Platinum Learning
