CALL TO ORDER Will Doby called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A motion was made to open the meeting. APPROVE MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING HELD DECEMBER 7, 2022 APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes from the December 7, 2022, Southlake Library Board meeting. Motion: Burr Second: Doby Ayes: Ton-That, Taggart, Hinkle, Doby, Burr & Midkiff Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 6-0 Motion Carried. 3. DISCUSSION A. Youth Services Overview City Librarian Pfledderer gave a brief overview of the corporate structure and strategy map before introducing Youth Librarian Stacy Wells. Librarian Wells explained how the Southlake Library serves our customers by delivering outstanding customer experiences through the collection and programming. Librarian Wells also emphasized that the youth collection makes up 62% of the library's total circulation and highlighted statistics for each category. In 2022, youth programming had 35,244 participants including weekly story times, our special monthly programming, and summer reading. Board member Hinkle shared information on the DRA program at CISD. Youth Librarian Wells agreed to connect with her and look for a way to incorporate the DRA levels into the Southlake Library youth collection. B. Upcoming Events City Librarian Pfledderer outlined a few of the upcoming events and programs for adults in February. These include our Creative Minds Exhibit, the speaker series, author talks, adult art classes, an African American Nutrition class as well as an interactive chocolate tasting demonstration with chef Zach Townsend. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT City Librarian Pfledderer gave a performance update for December 2022. Total circulation was down 6% from December 2022 but programming saw a 41% increase from December 2021. Library traffic increased by 37%, while there was a 33% decrease in digital users. CloudLibrary, World Book, and BookFLIX;had the strongest performances for the month. 5. CARILLON PARC STEERING COMMITTEE UPDATE Chair member Doby stated there are no upcoming meetings scheduled for the Steering Committee to date. 6. LIBRARY FOUNDATION NEWS Vice-chairman Burr stated there are close to 300 members on the Library Foundation's Facebook page. Through a wishlist, the Foundation is replacing two AWE children's computers in the library as well as the addition of a 3D printer and laptop. 7. NEW BUSINESS City Librarian Pfledderer invited the Board to introduce new business to be considered for future topics of Board meetings. Board member Midkiff inquired about the possibility of a digital marquee for advertising purposes, possibly owned by the City of Southlake. City Librarian Pfledderer agreed to find out information about the existing digital sign in Southlake Town Square. No other items were presented. 8. PUBLIC FORUM The public forum opened at 7:22 p.m. asking anyone wishing to speak to come forward. There being no comments, the forum was closed at 7:23 p.m. 8.
