Shake Shack is located at 125 Central Ave. DETAILS: The applicant is proposing a painted visual art wall mural sign on the north elevation of the building, which is adjacent to the restaurant’s covered outdoor seating area and faces the interior driveway and Summit Park. A visual art wall mural sign is permitted per the Southlake Town Square Master Sign Plan if approved by City Council following a Sign Board recommendation. However, the applicant is also requesting a sign area larger than allowed under the master sign plan. At the February 9, 2023, Sign Board meeting, the Sign Board recommended approval and also recommended that the applicant consider adding a dragon to the mural. The applicant will address the comment about adding a dragon at the City Council meeting. This item has not been presented to the City’s Art Council for recommendation, given that the characteristics of this mural appear more inline with a traditional sign rather than one or more of the traditional artistic styles or modern movements.
