1. CALL TO ORDER — Cynthia Pfledderer at 6:31 p.m.
2. CONSENT
A. APPROVE MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY
BOARD MEETING HELD MARCH 9, 2022

A motion was made to approve the minutes from the March 9, 2022, Southlake Library
Board meeting.

3. DISCUSSION
A. City Council Library Task Force Update
Board member Lori Burr shared progress and information about Library Task
Force. Burr is on Library Facility committee. There have been library tours in
person and virtual. Town Hall Task Force Meetings will be held May 11 and
May 16 for public discussion, and then be presented to City Council June 7.
B. Remote Locker Update
Remote lockers are installed and fully operational at Champions Club but are
not yet open to public. Lockers will be wrapped, as well as book return, and
open to public May 2. Library staff will be at Senior Health Fair and share
information about lockers.
C. Polaris Migration and Website Update
Polaris is now remotely hosted by vendor. This allows updates to be done
automatically and fewer service disruptions. Self-checkout terminals had
firewall issues, but that issue has now been fixed. Collection location maps
were not working but has been corrected. Civic Plus is the City's website
vendor and new look for City of Southlake websites have now been launched
with improved mobile layout. Navigation has been streamlined for ease of
use. City Librarian Pfledderer encouraged the board to look at it and give
feedback suggestions.
D. Summer Reading Sponsorships
Summer Reading will kick off with Creativity Festival on May 28 at Family
Park. Meyer Tax is a presenting sponsor with a $2500 donation. FOSL gave
$4000, Frost gave $500, NTX Dance gave $250. There is a desire for more
sponsors and the Board was encouraged to network their connections for
sponsorships. Donations to Library are tax deductible. FOSL has staff of three
so do not have book sale events anymore. Discussion about Summer Santa
and book donations.
4. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Q2 events: new website, upgraded library system, summer reading sponsors,
new carpet. Traffic and library cards are up, programming and study rooms are
up. Story time has a good attendance and there has been special story time
programming which has been well received. Chalk Art and scavenger hunts have
been popular. Magic show during Spring Break had good turnout. Rock Painting
with Sister Cities. Art classes for adults has been gaining in attendance and
popularity. AARP served over 750 people. Irish band concert during Spring
Break had approximately 150 people in attendance. Upcoming: Creativity
Festival, wrap up grant funding events, Summer Reading, Watermere visit and
sign-up day, and 2023 budget planning.

5. DISCUSSION: LIBRARY FOUNDATION
Board member Burr shared the new Library Foundation of Southlake logo. There
was a discussion about their Facebook page and a new website is being created.
The City Librarian thanked the Foundation for presents for staff during library
appreciation week.
6. NEW BUSINESS
No new business.
7. PUBLIC FORUM
Chair Bennett opened public forum at 7:19 p.m. to ask anyone wishing to speak
to come forward. There being no public, the forum was closed at 7:21 p.m.
8. ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting will be scheduled May 25, 2022. The meeting was adjourned.
