1. CALL TO ORDER — Janet Theaker called the meeting of the Southlake Library
Board to order at 6:31 p.m.
2. CONSENT

3. DISCUSSION
A. Library 2023 Proposed Budget
City Librarian Pfledderer discussed the Library Proposed Budget for fiscal year
FY 2023. Project focus areas include providing quality programming, developing
a high -demand collection, supporting the new library project, community
partnerships, and staff development.
The library made two supplemental requests for the proposed budget: $25,000
for programming and $9,950 for Overdrive. The library was approved for $20,000
for programming and was fully funded for Overdrive.
B. Summer Reading Summary
City Librarian Pfledderer announced that summer reading participation was up by
41 %, circulation was up 3% and visitors were up by 19% for 2022. There were
14,421 program attendees during June and July and programming increased by
73%.
C. New in FY 2023
City Librarian Pfledderer stated that cloudLibrary is expanding to also include
NewsStand, replacing Flipster at the end of October. Patrons will have additional
access to eBooks and magazines through North Texas Libraries on the Go and
newspapers through NewsBank. Additionally, the library will offer a live, online
speaker series through a consortium. Programming for 2023 will include a new
book club, monthly art classes, cooking classes, family concerts, new art classes
for special needs, and cultural events to name a few.
D. New Library Update
City Librarian Pfledderer indicated the City is working with the developer of the
Carillon Parc Public Spaces Project on a Developer Agreement as well as a Facility
Agreement.
4. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
City Librarian Pfledderer stated that programming has increased by 73% for the
year, circulation increased by 3%, and library traffic is up 19%. There is also an
increase in computer use and room reservations. Patron registrations are also up
but notary services and interlibrary loans have decreased slightly. The story time
attendance is over 100 almost every Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

5. LIBRARY FOUNDATION UPDATE
City Librarian Pfledderer shared an update from Lori Burr indicating they are now
a 501c3 with an active bank account. Their website is still under construction but
should be active soon.
6. NEW BUSINESS
No new business.
7. PUBLIC FORUM
The public forum opened at 6:58 p.m. asking anyone wishing to speak to come
forward.
John Pittman, Jed Risser and Trevor Khoury, employees of Fransen Pittman
Construction, inquired about the details and construction progress of the new
library. City Librarian Pfledderer indicated the new facility is proposed to be a
multi -use facility including a Performing Arts Center but it is still early in the
discussion phase.
There being no further questions or comments, the forum was closed at 7:10
p.m.
