3. DISCUSSION
A. Carillon Parc Public Spaces Steering Committee
City Librarian Pfledderer announced that Ronell Smith, Kathy Talley, and Amy
Torres-Lepp have been appointed to the Steering Committee. Dr. Randy Robbins
is not officially on the Steering Committee but has asked to be included in all
information. Tamara McMillan has been appointed from the Arts Council and
additional members will be appointed from the 2022-2023 Library Board as well
as other Boards and several community members.
The first meeting for the Steering Committee is set for October 17, 2022, at Town
Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. It will be an open meeting with the public invited to
attend. A facility agreement and a developer agreement are still in the works.
B. New Service Preview NewsStand and Biblio+
Southlake Library has joined a consortium, North Texas Libraries on The Go,
which will provide Kindle patrons access to online materials. Libby will officially
launch on October 1, 2022. Additionally, Biblo+ and NewsStand will replace
Flipster beginning in November. Gale and Udemy will be replacing EBSCO
(expiring in August 2023) for most of the digital research resources.
4. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
City Librarian Pfledderer stated that the library was 4% down on print circulation.
However, excluding the two weeks the library was closed during the month of
January, the circulation has increased 1.4%.
With the addition of new digital services, overall digital use is up 20%;
however, cloudLibrary has decreased by 2%. Digital resources such as World
Book are up, business uses are up, and programming is up by 73%, our highest-
performance year ever. We recently became a founding member of a consortium
nationwide to be able to offer a live, online speaker series.
Library traffic and visitors have increased by 21%. The library has also seen an
increase in computer usage, room usage, registrations, new card applications,
proctored exams, and volunteer services. Both notary services and interlibrary
loans have decreased.
