Intersection of Division Street and Reserve Street

Pursuant to the request of the Town of Southlake, the attached exhibit conceptually illustrates the
available motorist visibility at the intersection of Division Street and Reserve Street with the
proposed outdoor restaurant patio located on the northwest corner of the intersection depicted
as shown. The subject intersection is controlled by an all-way STOP condition.
According to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
“A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets”, this condition applies to ‘Case E:
Intersections with all-way stop control’. In such instances the requirement is for:
…the first stopped vehicle on one approach should be visible to the drivers of the first
stopped vehicles on each of the other approaches. There are no other sight distance
criteria applicable to intersections with all-way stop control…
As shown on the attached exhibit, the proposed patio does not obstruct the required visibility of
intersection motorists. The all-way STOP control provides minimal sight distance requirements.
