Mayor John Huffman led the pledges of allegiance to the United States and Texas Flags. 3. ANNUAL SOUTHLAKE YOUTH ACTION COMMISSION (SYAC) UPDATE Assistant to the Community Services Director Milenka Lopez introduced a video highlighting the Southlake Youth Action Commission’s activities and accomplishments over the past year. 4. SOUTHLAKE BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT – NORTH TEXAS DANCE ARTS ACADEMY ITEM 4A REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES, JUNE 21, 2022 Page 2 of 18 Director of Economic Development and Tourism Daniel Cortez introduced a video showcasing North Texas Dance Arts Academy, a local Southlake business. 5. SOUTHLAKE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE UPDATES Southlake Chamber CEO Mark Guilbert provided an update on the work of the Chamber. 6. SOUTHLAKE SANCTUARY UPDATE Operations Manager of Special Projects Robert Briggs provided an update on the Southlake Sanctuary project. 7. DISCUSS ALL ITEMS ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA. NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AND EACH ITEM WILL BE CONSIDERED DURING THE REGULAR SESSION. Mayor Huffman reviewed the items on the consent agenda. REGULAR SESSION: Immediately following the work session 1. LIFE SAVING AWARD RECOGNITION REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES, JUNE 21, 2022 Page 3 of 18 Assistant City Manager Alison Ortowski introduced Police Chief James Brandon who recognized Southlake Police Officer Steven Werner, Southlake Police Sergeant Kevin Diehl, off duty Arlington Police Officer Dillon Haven, Fire Engineer Kevin Barry, Fire Field Training Officer (FTO) Russell Brown, Fire FTO Cody Pierson, Firefighter/Paramedic Cory Teague, and Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan Steinkirchner for their role in quickly initiating and performing CPR and other lifesaving measures to help a motorist involved in a single car crash on State Highway 114 after experiencing a medical emergency on April 6, 2022. 3B2.
