CALL TO ORDER — Lori Burr at 6:36 p.m. 2. CONSENT A. APPROVE MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING HELD OCTOBER 27, 2021 APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes from the October 27, 2021, Southlake Library Board meeting. Library Board Officer Elections A motion was made to elect Katherine Bennett as Library Board Chair and Janet Theaker as Vice -chair for FY 2022. Motion: Eaton Second: Darr Ayes: Theaker, Doby, Eaton, Darr, Petty, Burr, Bennett Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 7-0 Motion Carried. 4. Librarian's Report City Librarian Pfledderer presented the performance numbers from October 2021. Print circulation increased 8% for the month. The cloudLibrary performance was down 12% but with new funding available, staff is watching to see if additional titles will increase circulation. Overall, digital circulation is up 26%. Other areas with increased performance include library cards issued, visits to the library, study room use, story time programs, and proctoring. The most notable declines at the start of the year are BookFLIX, Flipster, computer use, adult programming, and volunteer hours. 5. Discussion A. Carillon Parc Update City Librarian Pfledderer shared a video from the November 16, 2021, City Council meeting which discussed the proposal for the Carillon Parc retail development. The proposal offered Option A, which included the proposed library facility or Option B, which reserved space for a potential library facility pending the results of further study into the community needs for the library. The City Council voted to approve Option B and has stated they will assign a task force to lead community discussions regarding the future of the library before making a final decision on the facility. B. January Shutdown- Carpet Installation City Librarian Pfledderer shared the plans to close the library from January 3- January 15, 2022, for installation of new carpet. The staff will be working to assist with the project, moving and staging equipment and materials in the library in addition to other projects. LIBRARY FOUNDATION UPDATE Chair Burr provided an update on the Library Foundation of Southlake. The team is moving forward with filing for the 501(c)(3) designation and the goal is to seek founding members, including individuals, families, and businesses. This allows for the express 501(c)(3) process. The kickoff time is expected to be in February or March 2022. The founding member level is $1,000 and gives a five-year membership without any other commitment. It may also offer discounts on tickets to events or programs. 7. NEW BUSINESS City Librarian Pfledderer invited the Board to introduce new business to be considered for future topics of Board meetings. No new business was presented. 8. PUBLIC FORUM Chair Burr opened public forum at 7:11 p.m. to ask anyone wishing to speak to come forward. The forum was closed at 7:11 p.m. 7.
