2022-02-08 SAC minutesSenior Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes of the February 8, 2022 CITY OF SOUTHLAKE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES: FEBRUARY 8, 2022 LOCATION: THE MARQ SOUTHLAKE Legends Hall — Executive Board Room 285 Shady Oaks Drive Southlake, Texas 76092 Members Present: Vice Chair Greta Schumacher, and SAC members, Bernadette MacDermott, Esther Spickler, Kathryn Orler, and Julie Walter Commission Members Absent: Chair MaryLee Alford and SAC member Scott Cox (Alt #2) Staff Members Present: Deputy Director David Miller, Hospitality and Sales Manager of Legends Hall at The Marq Southlake Crystal Maddalena and Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Mashat-Phelps 1. CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Greta Schumacher called the meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission to order at 1:02 p.m. 2. PUBLIC FORUM Vice Chair Schumacher opened Public Forum. There being no one to address the Commission, Public Forum was closed. 3. DISCUSSION 3A. METROPORT MEALS ON WHEELS UPDATE MMOW Executive Director Mary King presented a quarterly report to the Commission and informed the Commission of the Metroport Meals on Wheels fundraiser scheduled March 26th at the Bradley's Estate. 3B. COMMUNITY SERVICES UPDATE Deputy Director David Miller and Hospitality & Sales Manager Crystal Maddalena presented a Community Services update to include the winter weather response, successful sales of the Sweetheart Dance sessions, the TRAPS annual Awards to include: The Marq Southlake won the 2022 TRAPS Recreation Facility Design Award and was available to answer questions. 3C. SENIOR SERVICES UPDATE Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Mashat-Phelps presented an update to the Senior Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes of the February 8, 2022 Commission on current and future senior programming and events to include the senior trips, the SWC Annual Valentine's Day lunch, and new senior program(s). Coordinator Mashat-Phelps informed the Commission that the Southlake Senior Activity Center won the 2022 TRAPS State Lone Star Recreation Programming, Class IV Award and was available to respond to questions. 4. CONSENT CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered routine by the Commission and are enacted with one motion. 4A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE JANUARY 11, 2022, REGULAR SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING. Vice Chair Schumacher presented the Consent Agenda, including approval of the minutes of the January 11, 2022, meeting. V i c e Chair Schumacher asked if there were any revisions to the minutes. No revisions were discussed. •;• 9 A motion was made to accept the minutes of January 11, 2022, meeting as read. Motion: Walter Second: Orler Ayes: MacDermott, Orler, Schumacher, Walter Nays: None Abstention: Spickler Vote: 4-0-1 Motion passed. 5. CONSIDER 5A. RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE THE CANCELLATION OF THE MARCH 8, 2022 SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION Vice Chair Schumacher presented item 5A to the Commission for consideration. APPROVED A motion was made to cancel the March 8, 2022 Senior Advisory Commission meeting.
