work and study throughout the day. Adult program attendance has not been what
it was pre-pandemic. Youth programming has rebounded. Volunteer hours were
down. Notary requests are up. AARP is beginning and calls are already coming
in for appointments. The library would like to see a stronger response in digital
use.
4. DISCUSSION
A. Library Board Ordinance and By-Laws
City Librarian Pfledderer informed the Board Section 4A of the Library Board
Ordinance details the Library Board duties and responsibilities. The Board has a
role to advise the City Council in all matter pertaining to library planning and
programming and decisions being made about the facility, as well as long term
capital improvement projects. Members of the Board can be expected to be
involved with the task force for the planning and design of the new library facility.
B. Collection Development Policy
City Librarian Pfledderer shared the collection development at the request of the
Chair. The library is fortunate to have not had many challenges to the book
collection. Ms. Pfledderer recalled only two in her tenure, both items from the
children's collection. The form for challenging a book in the collection is at the
circulation desk and any challenges are directed to the City Librarian for review.
Ms. Pfledderer detailed the steps of the review process.
C. Remote Locker System
The Pitney Bowes remote lockers will tentatively be installed 02.07.2022 in the
Timarron subdivision. There will be a separate return bin located by the lockers.
Delivery/Returns will be done three times a week.
