3. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
The end of year report was presented by City Librarian Pfledderer. The library
performed close to 2019 stats with a 10% print circulation increase overall. Library cards
issued were up 13%. Library traffic was almost even. Digital traffic down 35%. Adult
programming was down 13%, but youth programming was up 113% for the year.
Volunteer hours were up 45%. ILL and notary were down. Turnover rate jumped to 8.3.
Overall, the year stats are very pleasing considering the obstacles that were faced.
4. DISCUSSION
A. Ordinance 1228
Ordinance 1228 was enacted in 2020. Normally board members are staggered, and this
ordinance means August 2022 will be when Library Board will need to reapply for another
year. There are term limits for board positions now of 3 consecutive 2-year terms. The
current board members should be able to continue serving until 2025.
B. New Services
Starting November 1st, the library will have new services offered to the community.
Ancestry will be offered in the library on the library computers. A genealogy program will
be offered in December to tie into the new service, so patrons understand how to use it.
We are applying to be a Family Search library location as well. Creativebug from JoAnn's
will be offered. Creativebug will be available through the library website.
C. New Opportunities
News Bank is about $3,000/ year. The plan is to decrease print news if it is available
through News Bank. The library would continue to carry local print news. North TX
Libraries on the Go is accepting new members and the library has reached out to see if
the library can be a member.
5. DISCUSSION: LIBRARY FOUNDATION
Nothing to report currently.
6. NEW BUSINESS
Librarian Pfledderer shared Carillon is going before council for zoning change
November 2. There is no new information on how council is voting but the Board is
welcome to attend. Council meetings will be on the 2nd and 16th of November.
