I live ion Estes Park Road and my husband and I like to walk to
Southlake Town Square for dinner at least once a month. We
have to cross Carroll road at least three times to stay on the
sidewalk and the lighting is bad at different spots.

This is to The concern for a sidewalk from love Henry to the end
of the sidewalk at the ball park and rec center and Shady Oaks. I
walk this path every other day for the last two years and I have
seen people almost run over by trucks by speeding cars ,children
and all people seem to be the favorite targets. It cannot be that
expensive to put a sidewalk in maybe 500 feet to keep people
safe and off of Shady Oaks it just doesn’t seem to be that
difficult. At first I didn’t wanna say anything but thinking if
somebody was injured there it would weigh heavy on my
conscience.

I would like to know who I should speak to regarding the lack of
sidewalks in my area of town. In question are the following areas:
1. Davis Blvd from Sunset Trail to Continental: The sidewalk on
Davis ends at Sunset Way. Therefore it becomes dangerous and
physically challenging to travel toward Continental Drive and then
eventually to the school.
2. Continental to Peytonville (This is a direct connection to a
school)
3. Continental to Carroll Senior High School (no continuity of
sidewalk to get from Continental to Southlake Blvd. This is
EXTREMLEY dangerous) given the speed limit and limited street
lighting.

I wish below project completed in 2022 or 2023 as this connects
Coventry, Shady oaks and many other communities on N
Peytonville Avenue. These communities’ residents walk and run
on N Peytonville Ave. road. Building sidewalks will definitely help
residents and avoid accidents.

Questions, comments, or
other feedback about the
City's sidewalk priorities list
Per my email conversation 6/21 wi h Kevin Ferrer, Ken Baker
and Robert Cohen, the city had no plans on installing a sidewalk
on the east side of Shady Oaks between Highland and Love
Henry Ct. I see now it is listed as a Tier 1, top priority for the city.
We are in favor of sidewalks through out our community, but
would like some information on how this would affect our
property before providing feedback. A few considerations would
be: 1. why would the city not finish the current sidewalk on the
west side of Shady Oaks that currently extends the majority of
the space between Highland and 1709 except for a very wide
green space where a sidewalk could easily be placed. 2. If a
sidewalk were to be placed on the east side of Shady Oaks how
would that affect 587 Shady Oaks Drive, our property. There is a
large tree, power lines and a significant slope between the road
and our fence. Our property is odd that it sits much lower than
any other property on Shady Oaks. I know that tier 1 is one to
three years away but as we start to plan on the future of our
property including new construction or remodel, we would like
specifics on how the city would plan on handling our property.
Honestly someone wold need to come look at it to understand
how much it slopes. Thanks so much for your time. I look forward
to a reply.

about the City's
sidewalk priorities list
Please FULLY connect the sidewalks from 1709 to Continental.
This should be the first priority over any other sidewalk project.
Peytonville is a very dangerous place to be walking in the street.
Students attending CSHS and CES walk along Peytonville to get
to/from school.
There are still areas (after 18+ years of alerting the City of SL
and CISD) with NO sidewalk access on either side of the street --
forcing pedestrians to walk in the path of cars along the narrow
2-lane road. I've seen mothers enter the street navigating a
stroller while supervising their older children to/from CES.
It's imperative for a road shared with new high school drivers to
also provide safe sidewalks for pedestrians.
Please quit postponing your duty to take action. Eighteen years
is a LONG time to wait for a sidewalk. We moved into SL Woods
when my child was 6 months old -- she's now in college -- still no
fully connected sidewalk. Why?

The map is a bit difficult to see on my phone, but I hope that I’m
seeing it correctly: #466 S White Chapel is a Tier 1 project. It
should be a top priority to connect Southlake to the newly
constructed Colleyville sidewalk on Pleasant Run. This is one of
the few routes Southlake residents have to connect (on foot or
bicycle) with the Cotton Belt trail.

I live in the Regal Oaks neighborhood. Our neighborhood is
blocked by Randol Mill Rd which is a main 2 lane road serving as
the artery for many of the streets in this part of Southlake. Very
dangerous for walkers and bikers because there is no sidewalk.
Only grassy drainage ditches on either side. I frequently see
pedestrians walking along the street or just along the grassy side
of the street. This is an accident waiting to happen. We need a
sidewalk to serve the neighborhoods along Randol Mill Rd.
Please consider and discuss this at the next Planning and Zoning
Commission hearing.

Please consider putting in a sidewalk on Randol Mill Road from

pedestrians do not have a safe way of navigating through this

along with the deep ditches on the sides of Randol Mill Road.

I live on Ptarmigan St., in the Regal Oaks subdivision. I am
writing to support building a sidewalk from Morgan Rd., down
Randol Mill to Dove. Many people bike, run, walk dogs and
children down this stretch of Randol Mill. However, it is
treacherous!!! Cars often come over the hill there from the
Morgan Rd side, past Regal Oaks and are going very fast by the
time they get to Pheasant and beyond. It is impossible to see
someone walking or biking on the right side down that hill. There
are ditches and uneven surfaces - not at all safe. We never let
our kids go there (even when they were already driving to Carroll
Senior High School) - it never was safe enough. Please consider
putting a sidewalk in. It will dramatically improve safety but also
enhance the beauty of the area and expand the access for
families to Dove Rd and the walking paths there. Thank you for
considering our neighborhood!

We live on Regal Oaks Dr. in Southlake. Residents there since
1997, residents in Southlake since 1979. We desperately need a
sidewalk on the East side of Randol Mill from at least from
Morgan Rd in Cross Timbers to Dove Road. There are always
walkers-runners walking on the road(which is narrow) as the bar
ditch is impossible to walk in. It is very uneven, rocky, limbs
hanging over poking your eyes out, and snakey. The hill at Regal
Oaks Dr. makes visibility poor, coming down the hill you are upon
people quickly. Please help us with a sidewalk! One person killed
is one too many. It is a dangerous area for walkers that have little
choice but to walk in the road. Thank you, Berna Lee

We desire a sidewalk to be completed along Randol Mill Road
from Morgan Road to Dove Road (less than a mile). This is a
highly trafficked area with a narrow and uneven shoulder. A
sidewalk would give pedestrians, runners, and bicyclists along
Randol Mill Rd. and in the Cross Timbers subdivision safe
access to the sidewalks and walking trails in Westlake.

My family residence is located in Regal Oaks Subdivision,
Southlake. We are very much in favor of creating sidewalks
along the Randol Mill Rd, and Morgan Road. We see a great
number of neighbors doing their daily jogging, brisk walking and
cycling along the busy roads especially in Randol Mill. We hope
the City Council we take this fervent request to heart for the well
being of the residents in living in this great community of ours.
God Bless.

I have lived in Tuscan Ridge, Southlake for 15 years and have

Hi! As a previous resident in Tuscan Ridge and now a resident in
Regal Oaks, I fully support the construction of a sidewalk built
between Randal Mill and Morgan Road. In addition, another
stretch of sidewalk that can connect residents to the adjacent
neighborhoods and also allow residents to safely walk and cross
Dove to the sidewalks that run along Dove Road on the Westlake
side would be very beneficial. There are many joggers and
walkers that use this area. It is very uneven and also very
dangerous as cars drive through. A sidewalk along Randol Mill
would help alleviate the dangerous situation that has existed for
many years. Thank you.

Additionally a bike path along Dive would also be desirable as

Sidewalk along Randol Mill Ave
Please prioritize completing a sidewalk along Randol Mill Ave
from W. Dove Road to Morgan Road. Many residents in the
neighborhoods that border Randol Mill along this stretch use this
corridor to walk in to the Cross Timbers neighborhood, or to the
walking trails and sidewalks along and beyond Dove Road. This
stretch of Randol Mill can have heavy traffic and the ditches
along the roadside are steep and a safety hazard.
Thank you.

Desperately need a sidewalk on Randoll Mill from Morgan Road
to Dove Rd. It is less than a mile but provides a safe way to
access the walking and bike paths in Westlake but more
importantly provides a safe spot for students to wait for the bus.
The stops are off of Randoll Mill and some grades have an early
pickup when it is dark outside. It isn’t safe to be waiting on the
grass/neighborhood entrance where there are no street lamps
and their is poor visibility with all the turns. Thank you for your
consideration!

A top priority for installation of a sidewalk in Southlake is a
stretch of Randol Mill between Morgan Road and Dove. Many
residents from Cross Timber Hills and the surrounding
neighborhoods must walk on a two lane bar ditch road that can
be quite dangerous. Installation of a sidewalk would greatly
increase safety as walkers and runners try to access the trails
along Dove road.

I live on Regal Oaks and the lack of any side walk, espeically a
decent one, is quite dangerous for folsk wishing to walk or bike
down Randoll Mill to the Dove Road junction by the Westlake
trails. Pls put a side walk (with railings to protect children) from
Morgan Road all the way down to the Dove/Randol Mill
intersection to connect to the Westlake Trails. Thank you.

Please consider putting in a sidewalk along Randol Mill Road. It’s
just 1/2 mile of sidewalk that would be needed from Morgan
Road down to Dove Road (along Randol Mill Road).
There are SEVERAL neighborhoods that it would help to safely
connect. Cross Timbers, Tuscan Ridge, Regal Oaks, Pheasant
Ln, etc. many people are always walking along Randall Mill to get
to the walking paths in Glenwick and Terra Bella, but Randol Mill
is so dangerous because there is so much traffic plus it has lots
of hills and turns with blind spots!!

Good evening, Ms. Norman.
Thank you for your feedback, and I’m pleased to report this sidewalk is planned as part of a drainage
project scheduled in 2022. Construction should begin in late spring or early summer.

City's sidewalk priorities list
I live in the Southridge Lakes neighborhood. I walk daily in our
neighborhood, the Shady Oaks neighborhood, and Cross Timber
neighborhood. There is a small stretch on Peytonville where the
Shady Oaks neighborhood side walk ends to the corner of
Peytonville and Raven Bend with no side walk. There are a
number of people who walk there as well as students riding their
bikes from Southridge Lakes through Shady Oaks to get to
Durham Intermediate. It would be nice if the sidewalk continued
on to Raven Bend as so we would not have to walk on the street
when the short trail is muddy. There is a lot of traffic at that
corner. Thank you in advance.

Jenny, please do! I would be so grateful for any supplemental information you can provide.
I’ve heard that the city views the neighborhood as an emergency pass through so some options
that can be contemplated in most neighborhoods can’t be considered in Timber Lake. I don’t
know the accuracy of that statement however.
To that end, I’d welcome a chance to share a revised application with neighbors. I continue to
fear that it will take a major incident to encourage enough neighbors to make the investment.
Any advice on how to overcome objections is appreciated.
Thx,
Chad

Good afternoon, Mr. Mitchell.
Thank you for your feedback. The sidewalk you are proposing would be designated as a
“neighborhood” sidewalk, which would be eligible for the Neighborhood Sidewalk
Matching Funds Program. Through this program, residents can request the City to
participate in up to 50% of the cost of designing and constructing sidewalks within their
neighborhood. The application is currently being revised, but please let me know if you
would like me to forward it to you when it is complete. I’d be happy to discuss this with
you if you have any questions.
Also, your feedback will be shared with the Planning & Zoning Commission and City
Council as they consider the Mobility Plan updates, including sidewalk priorities.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

The neighborhood of Timber Lake is used as a crossover
between 1709 and Continental. Drivers routinely cut through well
above posted speed limits. Taking a family for a walk has
become scary and dangerous. What needs to occur in order to
add the neighborhood to the list of priorities?

I would love a sidewalk on Brookshire Dr in Southlake. It’s a
“main” road for the Cambridge neighborhood and nearby
neighborhoods to get to and from Kimball and Carroll avenues.
It’s close to Eubanks and Dawson schools and thus gets lots of
foot traffic. Even students from these schools run on this road
during school hours which always surprises me given there are
no sidewalks. There is also a park on Brookshire so it would be
nice if kids could be safer on a sidewalk thank walking on the
street to and from the park. Because it’s a “main” road in the
neighborhood, traffic can many times go over the speed limit. It
would be safer to walk on a sidewalk with the fast drivers in the
road. If I am driving the speed limit of 25 mph, it is not
uncommon for cars to pass me. It’s crazy.

Hello Southlake. Sidewalk and bicycle plan is great! Thank you.
Request no further widening of Dove Road east of White Chapel
to Kimball Avenue. Traffic speeds and noise already exceed rural
atmosphere and local mobility requirements for residents.
Roadway widening will foster through traffic and associated noise
and safety issues beyond existing acceptable residential access.
Dove Road east of Kimball in Grapevine is evidence of this
tragedy.
