Subject: Plans for Carillon Development
I am writing to express my disapproval of plans to construct additional units, a new library and a 12
acre park on the property at Whites Chapel Road and 114. If the development as planned will not
work, then it needs to go back to the drawing board. I cannot support the construction of a new
library. Personally, I have not utilized the existing library in quite some time and feel it is wasteful to
spend tax dollars of this amount to build a new one, especially in this day and age.
We also have parks in the city that are terribly underutilized (Noble Oaks) that continue to cost fax
payer dollars to maintain. If the residents of Carillon feel they need a park to buffer their
neighborhood, that is a cost they should bear.
Please give these thoughts some consideration.

Subject: New library
I just saw the plans for anew library and park at Whites Chapel and SH 114. lam opposed to the city
committing to spend $40 million on that project for a library and park. I believe we have sufficient
parks presently. In fact we have parks that are not used already. Additionally, I believe that libraries
are nostalgic, but somewhat antiquated in our electronic world of 2021 and forward. I am 67 years
old and don't remember the last time I read an actual book. I do, however, read an electronic book
every day. Please pause in your spending on unnecessary esthetics. Thanks

Quickly my thoughts the denisity needs to not expand beyond reasonable. This area does appear
over crowded already. Eye appeal when driving thru is certainly not representable of our city.
Minimize any residential increase.
Library building never did make sense. If anything place a small support facility for the library. In
Carillon. Town Square is our hub. Keep the library there.
Use this opportunity wisely,

Subject: $ 47‐52 million project at Carillon
Dear Mayor and City Council:
2
I’m writing to voice my concern and disapproval regarding the proposed increase in residential units at Carillon from 62
(already approved) to 99, as well as the proposed new library, and 12‐acre park. This is a huge amount of dollars to be
spent on a library (why not upgrade our current library?) and a park (we don’t need another park in Southlake).
I do not support this kind of expense, which the town will have to fund “somehow.” Not sure $ 47‐52 million is
justifiable, nor feasible.
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my dissatisfaction with this proposal. And thank you for serving our community.
