CITY OF
SOUTH LAKE
MEMORANDUM
(August 17, 2021)
To: Shana Yelverton, City Manager
From: Rob Cohen, Director of Public Works
Subject: Authorize expenditures with Consolidated Traffic Controls, Inc.
(CTC) for traffic control equipment in an amount not to exceed
$75,000.
Action
Requested: Authorize expenditures with Consolidated Traffic Controls, Inc.
(CTC) for traffic control equipment in an amount not to exceed
$75,000.
Background
Information: The City of Southlake requires the assistance of a third -party vendor
to provide traffic control components, enforcement, and signal
preemption equipment. Staff has noted that there is a pressing need
for software upgrades for school zone flashers and the ability for
"remote -in" controls. These upgrades would allow for Staff to
immediately address and troubleshoot component failures or
unforeseen changes from a remote location.
As a member of the Houston -Galveston Area Council of
Governments (HGAC), the City of Southlake is a part of a
cooperative contract with CTC for traffic control equipment. The
City's bidding process is met through a HGAC purchasing contract
#PE-05-21.
Financial
Considerations: Staff is requesting that City Council authorize up to $75,000 in
expenditures with CTC. Funding is available via the FY 2021 Traffic
operating budget. Expenditures will not exceed budgeted funds.
Strategic Link: This item links to the City's Strategy Map strategic focus areas of
Safety & Security, Mobility, and Infrastructure. It specifically relates
to the City's Corporate Objectives, Cl: Achieve The Highest
Standards Of Safety & Security, C2: Provide Travel Convenience
Within City And Region, and F2: Invest To Provide & Maintain High
