I April 28, 2021 This year will mark the 4th year of Diwalifest celebrated hosted by Southlake Foundation. In 2021, it is estimated that 4000 people will attend the event. Diwali, or also known as Deepavali or Festival of Lights, is India's biggest festival and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. At the Diwalifest, over 400+ kids and adults participate and have cultural programs throughout the day at the main stage. The Diwalifest will start with the inaugural ceremony by Southlake Mayor. There will be live food stations and food trucks serving hot food. Apart from food, music and cultural performances, there is a variety of handicraft, art, jewelry and other vendor stalls for the attendees to visit. The fireworks will be for 15 minutes at 8 pm marking the prime time for the event. All activities and entertainment will be consistent with the previous years event. We request to continue to have the ability to access the park property the day of Diwalifest. We will have the presence of police officers at the event. We will have proper insurance for the event. Due to the many years of experience by the event organizers and the stability and maturity of the event, we are respectfully requesting to be granted a Specific Use Permit in perpetuity.
