whistle britches sign variance packageSIGN VARIANCE APPLICATION
1400 Main Street, Suite 310, Southlake, TX 76092
Phone: (817) 748-8215 Fax: (817) 748-8077
Revised: March 2019 2
Demonstration
Please demonstrate that the following conditions are applicable to the requested sign variance:
1.That a literal enforcement of the sign regulation will create an unnecessary hardship or practical
difficulty on the applicant.
2.That the situation causing the unnecessary hardship or practical difficulty is unique to the affected
property and is not self imposed.
3.That the variance will not injure and will be wholly compatible with the use and permitted
development of adjacent properties.
4.That the variance will be in harmony with the spirit and purpose of the sign ordinance.
Yes, the ordinance denies our application, calling it a mural, when it is actually a sign printed on
a exterior grade foil substrate which attaches directly to the wall.
The printed substrate (foil/vinyl) product was chosen opposed to painting direct to the brick
so it would not be considered a mural.
The product cannot injure and will be compatible to the neighboring business.
Yes, vinyl/non-illumianted signs printed and applied to glass. Why would it not
be acceptable on a wall?

LL conceptually approves the blade sign and vinyl
(mural-esque) graphic, however, based on city feedback, a
variance will be needed, as it falls under a mural category. If
avoiding the variance process consider a more sign-like design.
