REGULAR AGENDA
1. Call to order. Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Sherry Berman, Chair.
2. Approve February 3, 2020 CEC meeting minutes. Jessica made a motion
approve the minutes as written. Vandana provided a second. Approved (5-0).

respect given to residents by applicants. Floor markings designed to guide
speakers traffic flow.
Survey: iPad available outside council chambers. The Committee noted the
QR code link and asked if there an easy survey link, and if a vanity link can
be purchased? The Committee noted the current link is hard to remember
and enter. The Committee asked how many responses from last meeting?
Vandana handled meeting with grace considering such a hot topic.
5. Discuss 2020 community engagement topics. The Committee discussed if
emergency preparedness is still something we want to focus on? The Committee
asked what do we currently do and where are there opportunities for improvement?
Staff noted that at the last meeting we discussed workshops about building kits,
training the trainer, etc. as noted by Ben at the last meeting. New emergency
preparedness contact Erin Rose. We can have her come and discuss. The
Committee noted we have a broader perspective of emergency challenges. a 72-
hour kit for tornados should be standard. We should learn from this pandemic,
what did we get right and miss? What needs to be included in my preparedness
kit to last longer than just 72 hours. The Committee asked how would be the best
way to communicate with the city? A Committee member noted videos, what to do
in emergencies? How to build a kit vs. how to manage population behavior in
emergencies. The Committee suggested a resource for what is needed to be self-
sustainable for 30 days. The Committee to brainstorm on ideas and send to Lauren
so we can discuss and have Erin Rose address. The Committee suggested
involving DPS departments to be involved with emergency preparedness. The
Committee asked if we have separate videos, or have one video? Need to have a
place on our website as a repository for all these videos. The Committee noted
needing resources for emergency meals for meeting nutritional needs in an
emergency.
6. Discuss community interest topics. Keeping social distancing in mind with
areas of interest. Staff asked what city services to citizens want to learn more
about? Regarding recycling the Committee mentioned water filtration. The
Committee mentioned the Candidates forum in November (COVID dependent),
and noted the volunteer opportunities website online, crime, and police policies.
7. Discuss future agenda items. Not discussed.
8. Adjournment. Sherry closed the meeting at 7:01 PM.
