2009-074 ResolutionOFFICIAL RECORD RESOLUTION NO. 09-074 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND ENDORSING THE APPLICATION FOR THE 2009 TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS ALONG F.M. 1709. WHEREAS, the City of Southlake places a significant emphasis on pedestrian mobility through its adoption of the Southlake 2025 Plan and its component elements, including the 2005 update of the Southlake Pathways Plan and the 2007 adoption of the Sidewalk Plan, WHEREAS, the City of Southlake recognizes that encouraging alternative modes of transportation has a positive effect on the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens, WHEREAS, the City of Southlake acknowledges that improving pedestrian mobility is critical to improving congestion and air quality, WHEREAS, F.M. 1709 (Southlake Boulevard) is a major east -west corridor within the city that is lacking complete, continuous sidewalks from the eastern city limit to the western city limit, WHEREAS, the City of Southlake wishes to improve pedestrian mobility and safety along F.M. 1709 (Southlake Boulevard), WHEREAS, the City of Southlake considers sidewalks along F.M. 1709 Southlake Boulevard) as the top priority for pedestrian connectivity within the city due to the potential to connect employment, retail, neighborhoods, schools, and regional destinations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS THAT: 1 SECTION 1. The application for funding for sidewalks along F.M. 1709 (Southlake Boulevard) from the Texas Department of Transportation Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program is hereby authorized and endorsed. The City of Southlake commits to the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance, management and financing. The City further agrees to provide the required local match of 20% and to be responsible for all non -federally fundable items and all overruns. SECTION 2.
