A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, GRANTING A SPECIFIC USE
PERMIT FOR A MASS GATHERING EVENT FOR THE
SOUTHLAKE INDEPENDENCE WEEKEND ON
SEPTEMBER 11, 12 AND 13 ON PROPERTY WITHIN
THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, LOCATED AT
SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE, DRAGON STADIUM AT
1085 S. KIMBALL AVENUE, AND CENTRAL PARK AT
1401 E. SOUTHLAKE BOULEVARD, 1 BEING LEGALLY
DESCRIBED AS LOT 1, BLOCK 1, CARROLL I.S.D. NO.
6 ADDITION; LOT 4, BLOCK 1, SHOPS AT
SOUTHLAKE; AND SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE,
MORE FULLY AND COMPLETELY DESCRIBED IN
EXHIBIT "A", AND AS DEPICTED ON THE APPROVED
SITE PLAN ATTACHED HERETO AND
INCORPORATED HEREIN AS EXHIBIT "B" AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a Specific Use Permit for a mass gathering event for the Southlake
Independence Weekend on September 11, 12, and 13 has been requested by a person
or corporation having a proprietary interest in the properties zoned as "DT" Downtown
District, "S -P-1" Detailed Site Plan District, and "S -P-2" Generalized Site Plan District;
and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the requirements of Sections 45.1 (36) & 45.14
of the City's Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, the Planning and Zoning Commission
and the City Council have given the requisite notices by publication and otherwise, and
have afforded the persons interested and situated in the affected area and in the vicinity
thereof; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council does hereby find and determine that the granting of
such Specific Use Permit is in the best interest of the public health, safety, morals and
general welfare of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
A Specific Use Permit is hereby granted for a mass gathering event for the
Southlake Independence Weekend on the property located at Dragon Stadium at 1085
S. Kimball Avenue, Central Park at 1401 E. Southlake Boulevard, and Southlake Town
Square; being legally described as Lot 1, Block 1, Carroll I.S.D. No. 6 Addition, Lot 4,
Block 1, Shops at Southlake, and Southlake Town Square, additions to the City of
Southlake, Tarrant County, Texas, according to the plats recorded in Cabinet `A', Slides
6413, 6414, 12457, 12458, 12459, 10949, 10950, 10951, 10952, 4892, and 4893 Plat
Records, Tarrant County, Texas, more fully and completely described in Exhibit "A", and
as depicted on the approved Site Plan attached hereto and incorporated herein as
Exhibit "B" and providing an effective date, subject to the provisions contained in the
comprehensive zoning ordinance and the restrictions set forth herein. The following
specific requirements and special conditions shall be applicable to the granting of this
Specific Use Permit:
1. Approved specifically for the dates of September 11, 12, and 13, 2008, as
presented.
SECTION 2.
This resolution shall become effective on the date of approval by the City
Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 5th DAY OF Aupust, 2008.
