A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND
ENDORSING THE APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM
THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT
PROGRAM FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN
TRAILS/SIDEWALKS AND DEVELOPING A LANDSCAPE
PLAN FOR THE S.H. 114 CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake places a significant emphasis on pedestrian mobility
through its adoption of the Southlake 2025 Plan and its component elements, including the 2005
update of the Southlake Pathways Plan,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake recognizes that encouraging alternative modes of
transportation has a positive effect on the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake acknowledges that improving pedestrian and bicycle
mobility is critical to improving congestion and air quality,
WHEREAS, Carroll Avenue, White Chapel Blvd., and Dove Street are priority
roadways for pedestrian connectivity in the City of Southlake in that, they have the potential to
connect employment, retail, neighborhoods, schools, and regional destinations,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake recognizes that S.H. 114 is a important entry way into
the city and has a significant aesthetic impact on the city,
WHEREAS, S.H. 114 is slated to be city's future employment center connecting local
and regional destinations,
WHEREAS, improved landscape design of the highway corridor is critical in making the
S.H. 114 a viable and attractive place for businesses, residents, and visitors alike,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake will provide a 20% local funding match and has
included this project in the City's Capital Improvements Program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1.
The application for funding from the Texas Department of Transportation Statewide
Transportation Enhancement Program is hereby authorized and endorsed for the following
proj ects:
1. Pedestrian trail/sidewalk along the north side of Dove Street from White Chapel
Boulevard to Carroll Avenue.
2. Pedestrian trail/sidewalk along the east side of N. Carroll Avenue from Dove
Street to S.H. 114.
3. Pedestrian trail/sidewalk along the east side of N. Carroll Avenue from S.H. 114
to Federal Way.
4. Sidewalk along the east side of S. Carroll Avenue from Westmont Dr. to
Breezeway.
5. Developing a Landscape Plan for S.H. 114 right-of-way.
SECTION 2.
This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
