MEMORANDUM
June 20, 2000
TO: Billy Campbell, City Manager
FROM: Sandra L. LeGrand, City Secretary
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 00-67, Authorizing the Director of Public Safety to
submit applications to the Department of Transportation for Regular
Exempt License Plates on certain City Vehicles.
Action Requested: City Council approves Resolution No. 00-67, authorizing the
Director of Public Safety or the Chief of Police to submit
applications to the Department of Transportation for Regular
Exempt License Plates on certain City vehicles.
Background: On April 18, 1989, Resolution No. 89-24, was approved by the
City Council, authorizing Police Chief, James W. Campbell to sign
the forms required to be submitted for registration requesting
reaular license elates for exempt vehicles. Due to the fact that the
Chief of Police is no longer James W. Campbell, a new resolution
must be submitted to the Department of Transportation in order for
me to be able to obtain regular license plates for exempt vehicles
for the City of Southlake, as requested by Director of Public Safety
Garland Wilson.
If the prior resolution had stated only the title, then the City would
not need a new resolution on file at the Department of
Transportation. It was suggested to me by the Department of
Transportation that this resolution state only the titles authorized to
submit the applications when the City desires to have regular
license plates for exempt vehicles.
