RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE TEXAS, AMENDING THE PERSONNEL POLICIES TO
INCLUDE THE FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE POLICY.
WHEREAS, City of Southlake (the "City") recognizes that employees frequently have
to manage the demands of the workplace with the needs of families; and
WHEREAS, The ability for employees to take time from work for family medical
needs without the risk of loosing their job or benefits promotes the stability and economic
security of families; and
WHEREAS, The Federal Government has enacted the Family Medical Leave Act to
entitle employees to take reasonable leave for medical reasons, for the birth or adoption of a
child, and for the care of a child, spouse or parent who has a serious health condition; and
WHEREAS, The Family Medical Leave Act accomplishes the purposes described
above in a manner that accommodates the legitimate interests of employers, now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, THAT:
Section 1: The City of Southlake hereby amends the Personnel Policies to include the Family
Medical Leave policy.
Section 2: This resolution shall become effective after its passage and adoption by the City
Council.
