RESOLUTION NO. 98-65
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF CITY FUNDS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTRIBUTING TO RETIREE MEDICAL
INSURANCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SIGN ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake, after due consideration has decided to
provide an opportunity for employees retiring on or after October 1, 1998 to choose
retiree medical insurance coverage; and
WHEREAS, the retiree medical insurance is intended to provide retired
employees with medical coverage until they are eligible for Medicare or other medical
insurance; and
WHEREAS, retiree medical insurance will discontinue once a retired employee
becomes eligible for Medicare or is eligible to be covered under another medical plan;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake would like to supplement the cost of retiree
medical insurance for the retired employee,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1: The above premises are found to be true and correct and incorporated into
the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2: That the City of Southlake hereby agrees to contribute $125 per month
towards the premiums for retiree medical insurance or $225 per month toward the
premiums for retiree and dependent medical insurance.
Section 3: This resolution shall become effective October 1, 1998 after its passage and
adoption by the City Council.
