A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE 1998-99 TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT GRANT FUNDING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake concurs with the efforts of the Texas
Department of Health to develop projects to increase the availability and quality of emergency
pre -hospital health care, and
WHEREAS, the objectives of the program include funding programs to provide education and
training of students, employees and citizens in emergency first aid and cardio -pulmonary
resuscitation, and programs to provide equipment for advanced life support, and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Health has established a program designed to assist
agencies in those efforts by making funding available to support worthwhile programs for
improving emergency medical services, and
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake is a small, but rapidly growing community with a desire to
provide educational instruction to citizens each year as a part of a pro -active approach to
emergency pre -hospital health care, and lacking sufficient funding at the current time to fully fund
those programs, and
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake agrees to conform to all of the requirements of the grant
funding program upon being awarded such financial assistance with the intent and desire to
continue the program over the long term,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City of Southlake, that the City Council of
Southlake, Texas supports the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Management
Grant Funding Program, and authorizes the Southlake Department of Public Safety to apply for
grant funding to support acquisition of educational prevention materials and equipment necessary
to undertake such programs.
