1997-060City of Southlake, Texas RESOLUTION NO. 97-60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE JOINT COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP INITIATIVES FOR DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the citizens of Southlake are confronted with the societal issue of drug and alcohol abuse among the youth of our community and desire to undertake a mutual effort to address this situation; and, WHEREAS, under Resolution No. 97-42, approved by the City Council and the Carroll ISD Board of Trustees, and the Southlake Youth Action Commission (SYAQ a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Committee was formed to develop initiatives for drug and alcohol awareness on June 24, 1997; and, WHEREAS, the committee shall be formed of the following members: two members of the City Council, appointed by the City Council; two members of the School Board, appointed by the School Board; two members of the community at large, appointed by the City Council; two members of the community at large, appointed by the Carroll ISD Board of Trustees; two youth members appointed by the Southlake Youth Action Commission; and two youth members of the community at large, appointed by the CISD Superintendent or designee; now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The committee shall be tasked with recommending to the City Council and the CISD Board of Trustees, initiatives, programs, and/or action plans, which will serve to focus on the goal of reducing drug and alcohol abuse by the youth of Southlake. Section 2. The City Council hereby appoints the following members to the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Committee: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. In addition, the staff support will be provided by the CISD staff and City staff and should as a minimum consist of: one staff liaison from the City Manager's office; one staff member from the Southlake Department of Public Safety; one staff liaison from the CISD Superintendent's office; one staff member or teacher from the CISD; and, the Municipal Court Administrator. Section 4. The committee shall serve for the period necessary to develop its recommendations, but not longer than 12 months without further action by the City Council and Carroll ISD Board of Trustees.
