RESOLUTION NO. 96-28
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING A MAYOR PRO TEM
AND A DEPUTY MAYOR PRO TEM PURSUANT TO
ARTICLE 2.07 OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, A Home Rule Charter was approved by the voters in a duly called Charter
Election on April 4, 1987; and,
WHEREAS, Article 2.07 of the Charter allows for the appointment of a Mayor Pro Tem
who shall perform the duties of the Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the Mayor;
and,
WHEREAS, on January 21, 1995, a Charter Amendment Election was held in which
Article 2.07 was amended to include the appointment of a Deputy Mayor Pro Tem who shall
perform the duties of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem in case of the absence or disability of the
Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem; and,
WHEREAS, the term of office for Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem shall
be one (1) year, according to Article 2.07; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City
Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this Resolution as if copied in its
entirety.
Section 2. Effective immediately, the Mayor has appointed, with the approval of the City
Council, Councilmember W. RALPH EVANSto serve as Mayor Pro Tem, who shall hold office
for One (1) year; and, Councilmember PAMELA MULLER to serve as Deputy Mayor Pro
Tem, who shall also hold office for one (1) year.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval by the City Council.
