1992-029City of Southlake, Texas
RESOLUTION NO. 92-29
WHEREAS, in 1987 the City of Southlake was advised by letter
from the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
that the estimated cost of curb and gutter and storm sewer in
Southlake was $800,000; and,
WHEREAS, the City relied on the estimate from the State and
committed to pay for the cost of curb and gutter and storm sewer in
Southlake, in return for which the State agreed to prepare
construction plans and pay for the cost of reconstructed paving of
FM1709 in Southlake; and,
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of curb and gutter and storm sewer
in Southlake has increased from $800,000 to $2,173,000; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake offered to provide a lump sum
contribution of $1,000,000 toward the cost of curb and gutter and
storm sewers; and,
WHEREAS, the City requested assistance from State Senator Bob
Glasgow in receiving approval from the Transportation Commission of
the Texas Department of Transportation, of the City's offer; and,
WHEREAS, through the intervention of Senator Glasgow the
Transportation Commission agreed to assume the cost of curb and
gutter and storm sewer above the $1,000,000 provided by the City of
Southlake and to proceed with the reconstruction project; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SOUTHLARE, THAT:
1. The City Council of the City of Southlake officially
recognizes the contribution of State Senator Bob Glasgow in
securing approval from the Transportation Commission for the
City's contribution to the FM1709 reconstruction project,
thereby assuring that the project will be carried out as
originally intended and contracted.
2. The City Council expresses its appreciation to Senator Glasgow
for his valuable assistance to the citizens of Southlake in
keeping the FM1709 project on course.
