RESOLUTION NO.90-39
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING
THE OFFICE OF MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE CITY,
PURSUANT TO THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE
CITY. PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a Home Rule Charter was approved by the voters
in a duly called charter election on April 4, 1987; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the
Home Rule Charter is needed, feasible and in the best interest of
the community; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. That all the findings in the preamble are found to be
true and correct and the City Council does hereby incorporate
said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in
their entirety.
Section 2. The Office of Mayor Pro Tem shall be established
pursuant to Section 2.07 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of
Southlake, Texas.
Section 3. That effective immediately, the Mayor has appointed
with the approval of the City Council, Councilmember
Betty Sbrinffer , to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, who
shall hold office for one year. The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform
the duties of Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the
Mayor, and if a vacancy shall occur in the office of the Mayor,
shall become Mayor until the next regular election.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.

SUBJECT: Resolution 90-39, Appointment of Mayor Pro Tem
Resolution 90-39, Appointment of Mayor Pro Tem is in your
packet. Chapter II, Section 2.07 of the City Charter reads:
At the first meeting of each new Council, or as soon
thereafter as practicable, the Mayor shall appoint
one of the Councilmen, with the approval of the
Council, a Mayor Pro Tem who shall hold office for one
year. The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform the duties of
Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the
Mayor, and if a vacancy shall occur in the office of
Mayor, shall become Mayor until the next regular
election. In case of absence or disability of both the
Mayor and the Mayor Pro Tem, the remaining members of
Council shall elect one of its members to act as Mayor
Pro Tem.
