1987-011RESOLUTION 87-11
THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF TARRANT § JOINT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake will be conducting City Council
Elections and such other matters as may be placed upon the ballot by
the governing body of said City on April 4, 1987; and,
WHEREAS, on April 4, 1987, Tarrant County will conduct a County
Bond Election; and,
WHEREAS, it is the finding of the governing bodies of the parties
hereto that the joint conduct of such elections would result in
substantial savings to the taxpayers of the governmental entities
required to conduct such elections and that such savings would be
realized if the elections, where possible, be held in the same
location, utilizing the same personnel, with the two governmental
entities sharing the expenses incurred in the conduct of this
election; and,
WHEREAS, all the eligible voters of Tarrant County shall be
entitled to vote in the election to determine the question of
confirmation of the Tarrant County Bond issue.
NOW THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved jointly, by the City Council
of the City of Southlake and the Commissioners' Court of Tarrant
County, Texas, that these two entities, where possible, shall conduct
said elections jointly on April 4, 1987, and that in the event there
are election precincts which include incorporated territory lying
within the limits of the said City and unincorporated territory, lying
outside the limits of any city, that said voters from the
unincorporated territory shall be allowed to vote only on the question
of the Tarrant County Bond issue; while those voters who are residents
of the City shall be allowed to vote on the City Council races and
such other matters as may be placed upon the ballot by the governing
body of said City, and upon the confirmation of the Tarrant County
Bond issue; and,
1 )
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Southlake and the County
of Tarrant shall have separate voting devices, ballots, and list of
registered voters, (County ballots will have corner codes that make
it impossible for the City devices to accept County ballots.) The
County ballots will be color coded to make it easier for the Election
Judges and Voters to differentiate between ballots.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Southlake and the County
of Tarrant shall share the costs of Sites, Election Judges, Clerks,
and Absentee Balloting. The County of Tarrant will pay the Election
Judges $25.00 for the return the election results and supplies to
Tarrant County.
SIGNED this the day 1987.
