RESOLUTION 85-23
WHEREAS, the main transportation artery linking the City of
Southlake to its neighbors to the west is F.M. 1709, which
thoroughfare also serves as one of the main business streets
for the City; and,
WHEREAS, unprecendented development pressures within the City
and particularly on F.M. 1709 have created exceedingly
difficult traffic problems within and adjacent to the City;
and,
WHEREAS, adequate transportation arteries are essential to the
orderly growth and development of the City and F.M. 1709 is of
particular concern to the City of Southlake; and,
WHEREAS, the improvement to F.M. 1709 has been long recognized
as a necessity by the Texas Department of Highways and Public
Transportation; and,
WHEREAS, although the improvement of F.M. 1709 has been
recognized, its funding schedule has not yet been placed
in a category to insure expeditious completion of this
much needed project; now,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
The Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation is
respectfully urged to reschedule the funding priority for
F.M.. 1709 into at least the current five - year capital
improvements program and to take all steps possible to insure
the early completion of proposed improvements.
