FORUM SUMMARY: Property Situation: The property is located at 1501 W. Southlake Blvd. Development Details: Carroll ISD is requesting a variance to the Lighting Ordinance No. 693, as amended, to replace the existing tennis court lights at the Carroll Senior High School. The current lighting conditions are the original light for the 8-court facility and do not meet the UIL required light levels. The current light poles are in the tennis court areas and propose safety hazards for the players. The proposed LED light fixtures will provide an average of 50-foot candles and will be placed on a 9-pole layout with 50 ft. poles outside the playing surface. This will allow better control of the lighting on the court with new technology (less light spillage) and provide better lighting with energy savings. Carroll Senior High School: Tennis Courts Light Replacement Project Light Variance Request CSHS annis Courts are not in compliance with the UIL Competition Regulations Manual. • Minimum average of 50 horizontal foot- candles on playing (Fg.2ofdeighringfntomaton fSp" FaiN6t sManual). • It is not recommended to use 6-pole layouts with poles located in net lines. This position may be directly in the server's sight line with toss when the ball is served (F& 15 of the Lightiaglnf oration of Sporn Facilities Marina]). i Current Condition: • Current lights are original and have outlived their lifecycle • Light Levels have degraded so much that they are NOT in compliance with UIL light levels required • Multiple schools will not come play at CSHS due to the low lighting levels currently • Current light poles are actually. in the court surface area (between courts) which is not optimal when looking at safety of the players.
